The Sustainable Agriculture, Food and Environment (SAFE) Platform is opening its fourth call for proposal cycle to all SAFE Platform Partners and allies interested in participating in the pre-selection of project proposals for SAFE Individual Projects. The process will remain open until July 15th, 2019.

General requirements

Projects should be developed in the coffee or cocoa sectors in Latin America or the Caribbean[1], focusing on one or more of SAFE’s emerging areas of intervention:

  • Profitability of farms and production

  • Ag-tech as a driver for transformation and scalability

  • Landscape and data management

  • Demographic changes around coffee/cocoa production (youth and gender)

  • Climate finance and Renovation & Rehabilitation

Projects must provide an innovative approach to scale impactful solution to persistent problems within coffee and/or cocoa landscapes. Particular emphasis will be taken in the relation between technology and agriculture (or “Ag-Tech”) and climate change.

Projects must be proposed by at least two active SAFE Partners and/or their allies, who must commit to contribute with the required minimum counterpart. SAFE encourages initiatives that integrate multiple actors and strong participation of a private sector anchor company.

[1] All countries listed under IDB-Lab’s country list can apply. Focus will be given to low-income and low-middle income countries particularly in Central America and the Caribbean region. Countries with multiple SAFE projects are less likely to receive funding in this fourth round. For more info visit https://bidlab.org/en/impact and http://www.safeplatform.org/main-projects
